Brett Silva: Sunday Silvawave Frame
Share
Brett rides with speed, commitment and one of the best big toboggans in the game. He can make a huge transition clip look stylish rather than desperate, which is much harder than it sounds. The Silvawave setup follows that same planted, full-speed approach. Transition riding looks simple until you watch someone use the whole ramp properly. Speed has to be carried instead of manufactured at the last second, the bike needs to stay composed and the rider has to know exactly where the landing is before leaving the coping. Going high is one thing. Going high with shape, control and enough speed for the next wall is another. That is why a clean transition clip can be more memorable than something packed with extra tricks. The rider is working with the ramp rather than fighting it. When that timing is right, even a familiar line looks bigger, faster and far better than it has any right to. There is no need to turn it into a motivational speech. Brett Silva is simply very good at riding a BMX in a way that feels unmistakably personal. That is harder than it sounds. The tricks matter, but the way they are used is what gives the riding a bit of life and keeps people coming back for the next video.
Sunday Silvawave Frame. The frame runs a 75-degree head angle and a 13.45 to 13.70-inch rear end, with top tubes running from 20.5 right through to 21.25 depending on colour and batch. More of the setup: Sunday Silvawave Brett Silva Complete, Sunday Brett Silva Handlebar, Sunday Brett Seat, and Sunday Brett Silva Forecaster. A frame is the part that sets the basic mood of the whole bike. A few millimetres at the rear end, a slightly different head angle or a bit more room up front can completely change how it behaves. Short and steep can feel lively. Longer and calmer can feel far better once the speed comes up. Neither direction is automatically right. The point of a signature frame is that the choices should make sense for the rider behind it. That does not mean everybody needs to copy the exact setup. It means the product has a reason to exist beyond a colourway and a name on the sticker. At Blue Groove, we would rather talk through what you ride than tell you to copy a pro bike from the tyres up. Use the linked setup as a starting point. If the geometry and feel suit you, great. If not, there is nothing wrong with keeping the bike you already know.
