BLUE GROOVE BMX
Blue Groove BMX was founded by Pete Mackellar after a lifetime around BMX.
In 2020, during COVID, Pete put his last $4,000 into opening the shop. It was a gamble built on a simple belief: Brisbane needed a BMX shop run by people who actually lived and breathed BMX.
What started small has grown into a shop, workshop and coaching community serving riders and families across Brisbane.
The principle hasn't changed — know the products, give straight advice, support the scene and help people enjoy riding.
Shop, workshop and coaching — connected by the same BMX-first approach.
Complete bikes, parts, apparel and protective gear, backed by advice from people who ride.
BMX-specific servicing, repairs, builds and component installation from the Darra workshop.
Structured BMX coaching that helps riders build skills, confidence and progression on the bike.
WHAT BLUE GROOVE STANDS FOR
Blue Groove isn't built around selling someone the most expensive option.
It's about understanding what they ride, where they ride and what they actually need.
Pete's years of riding, competing, coaching and working with BMX riders feed directly into how the shop operates — practical advice, products we believe in and no pretending every rider needs the same setup.
BMX isn't a category here. It's the reason the shop exists.
Buy what suits your riding, not what costs the most.
Local riders, families and the next generation matter.
The end goal is always getting people onto bikes.
