Lewis Mills: Éclat Controller Bars

Lewis makes extremely difficult street riding look tidy, precise and almost calm. Big rails and technical lines get the same clean treatment, with every barspin and catch exactly where it needs to be. That control has made him one of Australia's standout street riders. Heavy street riding always looks cleaner once it has been cut into a finished video. What you do not see is the ugly run-up, the rail that is rougher than it looked, the impact through the bike and the number of times a rider has to commit before it finally works. That is why power on its own is not enough. The rider still needs control, timing and the confidence to stay with it when the setup starts fighting back. The best heavy clips feel direct rather than messy. There is no extra carrying on, just speed, commitment and a bike being put exactly where it needs to go. That mix is a big part of the appeal here. You can pull the riding apart and talk about difficulty all day, but the simple version is better: Lewis Mills makes BMX look good. Not polished for the sake of it and not serious for no reason. Just confident riding with enough personality that the clips still feel like somebody, not everybody.

Éclat Controller Bars. Lewis had already been bouncing between Éclat's Dive and Morrow bars and basically wanted the bits he liked from both, plus his own geometry. More of the setup: Controller V2 2pc Bar and Controller V2 4pc Bar. Bars are a simple-looking part that riders can be unbelievably fussy about. Rise changes the front-end height, width changes leverage and the sweep affects how the wrists and shoulders sit on the bike. Even a small change can make manuals, hops or landings feel different. That is why signature bars are usually more personal than they first appear. The shape reflects what the rider has become comfortable with after years of riding. It is still worth comparing the numbers with your current bars before changing anything. A setup that feels perfect to one rider can feel completely wrong to somebody with a different build or style. We like signature gear most when you can watch the rider and understand the product without needing a massive sales pitch. That is the case here. The link between the riding and the setup is clear. Whether it belongs on your bike comes down to fit, feel and what you actually ride. Watch: #VOICEMAIL 7 - Lewis Mills & The Controller Bar Hero image: Éclat BMX / #VOICEMAIL 7.
