KMC was founded in Taiwan in 1977 and has grown into one of the bicycle industry’s major chain specialists. The company develops chains across BMX, track, road, mountain bike, e-bike and other drivetrain applications, with its engineering centred on compatibility, plate shaping, pin construction, coatings and durability. KMC’s broad range reflects the fact that different drivetrains place different demands on a chain, from simple single-speed BMX setups through to modern multi-speed systems. Rather than being a general component brand, KMC has built its identity through decades of concentrated development in one of the bicycle’s most heavily loaded moving parts.
