Odyssey Par Ends are lightweight plastic bar ends built to protect both the handlebars and the rider without shattering like cheap brittle plugs.
The design grips inside the bar while also covering the outside edge, helping the end stay put when the bike hits the ground. They are the same style Odyssey includes with its grips.
