S&M Bikes was founded in 1987 by Greg “Scott” Swingrover and Chris “Mad Dog” Moeller in Southern California, with the original goal of making BMX bikes that could survive the way they were actually being ridden. S&M grew into one of BMX’s longest-running rider-led manufacturers, producing frames, forks, handlebars, stems, cranks, tyres and other hardgoods while supporting generations of influential riders. The brand’s reputation is built around durability, direct rider feedback and a distinctly American BMX identity rather than polished corporate positioning. More than three decades later, S&M remains closely associated with serious freestyle equipment and the culture that created it.
